42nd Annual OCWA Golf Tournament
at Strawberry Farms Golf Club

A Return to Our (Near) Normal
Course of Enjoyment

By Tim Hogan

The 42nd Annual OCWA Golf Tournament was held on Monday, June 7, at the Strawberry Farms Golf Course in Irvine. After a year of pandemic which forced our annual golf tournament to be moved to October, it was nice to return to the links and resume our (near) normal course of enjoyment.

Though the day began overcast with slight drizzles, it cleared early to become a wonderful, sunny but cool day — perfect weather for golf.

We had a full field for the tournament, over 100 golfers turned out, and everyone enjoyed a great round of golf and camaraderie.

A true highlight of the day was a hole-in-one shot by Sean Levin, City of Newport Beach, on Hole 7.

We have already secured our day at SFGC for next year: June 6th, 2022. So mark your calendar!

A big part of the day’s success was due to the help provided by the many volunteers. We’re indebted to Camilla Howe and Kate Pittman from Michael Baker International, Asya Valdez from Leighton Group, and Chelsea Roy from PACE Advanced Water Engineering for their tireless assistance to ensure the event’s success. Special thanks as well to Alison Tomko, and the entire staff at Strawberry Farms Golf Club, for their generous hospitality and the extraordinary effort they provided to help make our Tournament such a resounding success.

In addition, the OCWA Board would like to thank all of the 42 Sponsors that made the event possible. Without their contributions, the fiesta awards ceremony and prizes would not be possible. All our Sponsors are listed here on the webpage in the 2021 Golf Tournament Sponsorship tab. Please take a moment to look through the list. In addition, all of their addresses and phone numbers are in the OCWA Directory.

Finally, the Board of Directors is indebted to Michael Sinacori and Board Member Derek Kurtti for their tireless efforts to coordinate the Tournament and procure all the prizes for the day’s festivities. They were ably assisted by the Golf Committe Members, who together see to all the myriad details needed to ensure each year’s Tournament is a memorable event.

See you next year, June 6, 2022!
